If you’ve heard about the many benefits of dental implants, you may be interested in using them to replace teeth. They are better for your oral health and your overall health than other kinds of replacement teeth. However, you may be concerned about getting the right implants for your smile.

You have many choices at 1st in Smiles, and Dr. Rick Barfield will help ensure you get the solution that is the best fit for your situation. Call 972-380-8105 today to schedule a consultation at our Plano, TX office. Already spoken to another dentist about implants? Second opinions are free.

In the meantime, check out our overview of the dental implant treatments we offer:

  • Single Tooth Implant
  • Implant-Supported Bridge
  • Dental Implant Dentures
  • All-on-4 Implants
  • Mini Dental Implants

No matter which dental implants you choose, you’ll benefit from Dr. Barfield’s implant expertise. Unlike some other general dentists, you can have your implants placed and restored in our Plano, TX office. There’s no need to travel to an outside specialist for any part of your procedure.

Replace Teeth With a Single Tooth Implant or Implant-Supported Bridge

Without an implant, you’ll need a conventional dental bridge to replace a single missing tooth. We have to remove structure from the healthy teeth surrounding the gap in your smile to support that kind of a bridge. With a single tooth implant, there’s no need to work on healthy teeth. Dr. Barfield will attach a dental crown to an implant.

The result is a tooth that blends seamlessly into your smile. In addition, you won’t suffer the bone deterioration that occurs with a conventional bridge.

If you’re missing several teeth in a row, you can replace them with an implant-supported bridge. Much like a single tooth implant, we won’t have to drill into any healthy teeth to place your bridge.

Dental Implant Dentures Offer Many Benefits Over Standard Dentures

With dental implant dentures, you can choose dentures that you can be removed daily for cleaning or dentures that stay in place unless removed by a dentist. Both offer an experience more like having natural teeth than you can get from standard dentures. Some of the reasons implant dentures may be the right implants for you include:

  • Chewing strength that allows you to eat all kinds of food
  • No need for adhesive to keep your dentures in place
  • Function similar to natural tooth roots, which keeps you from losing bone mass in your jaw

All-On-4 Implants Are a Cost Effective Way to Replace Many Teeth

With Dr. Barfield’s implant experience, you can get an All-on-4 procedure, which involves attaching a full arch of replacement teeth to just four dental implants. In some cases, six implants are used, in a procedure called an All-on-6. It’s possible to receive this treatment in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both jaws.

Because only a few implants are used, it is the most economical way to replace many teeth with implants. It is also less invasive, so it’s easier on your jaw. You may even be a candidate to receive implants and temporary replacement teeth on the same day. You’ll be able to smile and eat with the temporary teeth, returning to our office when your implants have fully healed to receive the final arch.

Mini Implants May Be the Right Implants for You

Mini dental implants can be the best choice if you lack enough bone density to support full-size implants. With mini implants, you may be able to avoid the need for a bone graft or similar procedure. They are also often a great option to keep your lower dentures in place. We can even use them with your existing dentures! That said, mini implants aren’t as strong, so they aren’t right for every kind of implant treatment.
